Dr. Carlson worked as a Primary Care Physician in Oregon, prior to moving to Las Vegas where she opened her own practice.

A few of her areas of expertise: thyroid conditions, gastrointestinal issues, hormone imbalances, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, diabetes and prediabetes, and cardiovascular concerns like high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She really enjoys working with clients that are looking for a different approach to their health care with both conventional diagnosis and pharmacological treatments and cutting edge natural medicine therapies.

She is originally from the New York / New Jersey area and completed her studies at the Scholl College of Podiatry in Chicago. Her knowledge of medicine, treatment of chronic conditions, the importance of supplementation and exercise, along with her extraordinary skill as a health educator give her the cutting edge in assisting people in creating their optimal mind, body and soul health.

Gus Vargas, Owner,Mgr. Structura Body Therapies, Las Vegas, NevadaGus Vargus, Owner, MGR. Structura Body Therapies in Las Vegas, worked for 9 years in IT support for Scientific Games which gives us the hint that he is a technician who has the ability to apply his technical skill and knowhow to optimizing the human body. He got involved in the health industry when he was injured after 6 years of doing bootcamp at 5am in the morning. This started his 18-month journey to get it healed. When conventional methods couldn’t help him, his search led him to a company in Ogden, Utah called Strucutra Body Therapies. What he couldn’t do in 18-months, they were able to do address in just several weeks. He was so impressed with the effectiveness of this therapy, that he quit his corporate job and opened a local clinic for Las Vegans.

David Smith, M-Div Moderator, Owner of LasVegasAreaTrails.com NetworkLasVegas.comFinally, where do I fit in? David Smith, not a health professional, but as moderator, pastor and owner of a marketing company in Las Vegas my skill is in bringing people together, helping people communicate and make important transitions that improve their lives. But there’s another reason I helped create and organize this webinar. Health has always been my passion, and I’ve found that it’s possible for a person to discover one key activity that can help create optimal health in all areas of life. I’ll share the key activity that pulls everything together for me, how it works, and help guide you to discover or strengthen or simply celebrate yours. I will give you a hint… ((LasVegasAreaTrails.com))

That’s enough for introduction. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover. Let’s jump right in!

The 5 Pillars of Optimal Health

We believe that there are 5 areas that make up optimal health, we call them the 5 Pillars of Optimal Health. If you’ve ever seen someone who’s focused on just one of these 5 Pillars of Optimal Health while ignoring the other 4, you’ll know why a person needs all 5.

Now I’m going to defer to the experts who are each going to say how their area of health care and their work with clients affects each one of these 5 areas:

As I said, one overarching passion can pull together your entire health landscape. For me that one passion is trail running. I’ve created one huge trail adventure each week.

Effect of Trail Running on Physical Health:

  • The one big adventure causes me to have a reason to exercise daily.
  • Causes me to discipline my food intake by quality and quantity.
  • Causes me to add proper supplementation, continually tweaking and refining for the best results.
  • I work through injury and refine my technique.
  • All so I can enjoy that one adventure each Saturday.

Effect of Trail Running on Mental Health:

  • My most creative though time comes while running.
  • Running makes me more mentally alert.
  • Oxygenates my body and my brain.

Effect of Trail Running on Emotional Health

  • Problems that seemed large tend to melt away when I exercise.
  • Exercise releases stress which is a killer and can lead to depression.
  • That exercise each day helps me start out the day with one accomplishment.
  • This increases self confidence and emotional well being.

Effect of Trail Running on Social Health

  • Even though running is a solitary sport…
  • I’m much easier to get along with when I have that regular daily run.
  • In those rare instances when I miss it due to injury, sickness or life or work gets in the way, it affects my social life.

Effects of Trail Running on Spiritual Health

  • I’ve developed a relationship and bonding with the earth.
  • It’s hard to explain.
  • But every run is a spiritual experience for me.

Something You Can Do Right Now:

  • Go to my favorite page of LasVegasAreaTrails.com: Water in the Desert
  • I’ve recorded the sites and sounds of water.
  • Take just 5 minutes each day this week, put on head phones, click play and listen.
  • Experience your stress going down, and your sense of well-being increase.
