Adventure to Occur Fall or Spring Soon!
The Switchback Spring South Loop in Nevada is a wilderness loop beginning at the Willow Spring area in Red Rock Canyon (NCA). From there head up Rocky Gap Road. Ascend to the Wilson Ridgeline above Switchback Spring. Then, head South (left) along the Wilson Ridgeline to where it drops off above Rocky Gap Road. Along this stretch of the Wilson Ridgeline, cross over Tio Grande and Red Rock Summit. Turn right to descend about a quarter mile along the Wilson Ridge toward Lovell Canyon, then descend to upper Rocky Gap Road. Take a left on Rocky Gap Road to loop back to the start point at Willow Spring.
Expect to encounter steep limestone slopes and ledges. Enjoy a remote wilderness terrain populated by Pinyon Pines, Junipers, Yucca and Cacti. Your route will pass at least two natural mountain springs.Â
From I-215 take the Charleston Blvd exit (at Red Rock Casino) and head upward through Summerlin toward Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Take the Red Rock Canyon scenic drive past the high point overlook to the Willow Spring picnic area between White Rock Mountain and the Rainbow Mountains that border the West side of Red Rock Canyon.
