Deer Creek Picnic Area is in a beautiful Ponderosa Pine forest along Deer Creek. There are picnic sites along the creek which normally runs during the Spring months. There are some picnic tables (the area gets flooded out now and then during heavy rains)! Bring a propane camp stove with an on/off switch. No fires are allowed. There’s a large parking area across Deer Creek Road along with a restroom. No reservations — it’s “first come first served“. Find a great picnic site and enjoy the day!

Find access to the Cougar Ridge Trail and Mummy Springs from this picnic area. The North Loop Trail with access to Fletcher Peak and Raintree (an ancient 3,000-year-old Bristlecone Pine predating classical Greece) is less than a mile from the Deer Creek Picnic Area. About a mile further down Deer Creek Road find the Deer Creek Catch Pen Loop Trailhead and Desert View Overlook. Most of the main Mummy Mountain access points are in this area. Hilltop Campground and Mahogany Grove Group Campground are within a mile. Â

Highway 158 Deer Creek Road between Kyle Canyon and Lee Canyon. To get to this point from Las Vegas head North on Hwy-95 taking a left at one of the last Hwy-95 exits in the Las Vegas area, Kyle Canyon exit. Continue up Kyle Canyon Road about 17 miles and a couple miles before Charleston Village take a right on Highway 158 toward Lee Canyon. You’ll wind around the hillside to the left until you reach the high point near Angel Peak. Deer Creek Road begins to descend past Angel Peak. You’ll pass the Hilltop Campground, North Loop Trailhead and Mahogany Grove Group Campground, all on the right. Shortly thereafter, arrive at the Deer Creek Picnic Area on the right.
