Mummy Mountain Adventures Overview | Mt Charleston Wilderness | Spring Mountains, Nevada
Mummy Mountain, elevation 11,500ft, has a vast and beautiful summit upon which you could easily fit a couple football fields! Ancient Bristlecone pines are sculpted into unique shapes beyond the capability of human art. Discover multiple wilderness routes to and around Mummy Mountain. Actually, there are a number of summits that could each merit an entire separate adventure, each with a unique approach route, discoveries and views. There’s Mummy Mountain’s Forehead, Mummy’s Nose and Mummy’s Chin, Mummy’s main summit area (Mummy’s Tummy), Mummy’s Knees and Mummy’s Toe. The foothills are just as vast and diverse. This mountain could easily form its own entire wilderness!
But be prepared to navigate through pathless wilderness during the approach routes, and to pull your way up long, steep, loose rock slopes no matter which approach you take to the summit. As you approach the upper regions, expect some rock scrambling up limestone ledges. These barriers have left Mummy Mountain and its surrounding wilderness pristine and largely untouched. However, by the time you reach the summit (following the routes listed below), you’ll discover your difficulty level has very seldom exceeded a class 3 rock scramble.Â
By the way, if you’re having a hard time making out the shape of a Mummy, check out the morning view from the 4 Peak Circuit on the slide guide.Â
