Lee Canyon has 4 beautiful picnic areas near some awesome short hikes to enjoy on the day of your picnic. These are the closest picnic areas to ancient Bristlecone Pine forests in the Spring Mountains. And as you picnic, you’re only a short drive from the Lee Canyon ski area.

Sawmill Trailhead Picnic Area – Picnic tables, horse trailer pull-throughs and parking, horse friendly trails. You’re right at the Sawmill Trailhead with some awesome trails! Try the Sawmill Loop and Blue Tree Loop first. Note the other, more distant loops may present navigational challenges due to scarce or absent directional signage!
Foxtail Group Picnic Area – 7 group day-use only sites. Restrooms, group picnic sites with fire pits, covered group pavilions with fire places. Reservations are required. Details and Reservations
Old Mill Picnic Area – 80 picnic sites (“first come, first served“). Multiple restrooms. Fee (cash only, exact change) at the gate.
Lee Meadows – Open area for picnicking, no tables, just spread your picnic in the Lower or Upper Meadow. Additional Information

The Sawmill Trailhead picnic area offers direct access to 6 great hikes traversing the Ponderosa Pine zone, Pinyon Pine zone and desert Yucca and Cactus zone. Start with these two:
Old Mill Picnic Area, Foxtail Group Picnic Area and Lee Meadows offer close access to:
- Bristlecone Pine Trail – Hike among ancient Bristlecone Pine trees, some of the oldest living organisms on earth!

Take Hwy 95 North from Las Vegas and take a left at the Lee Canyon Road exit (Hwy 156). The camping areas listed above are along the upper stretch of Lee Canyon Road in the following order from lowest to highest elevation:
